The Position: As a part-time piano or guitar/ukulele instructor, you will teach private piano lessons to both adults and kids ages 7 and up, teaching 1:1 in our studio in Fallbrook. At Little Dell Music Studio we are all about instilling a love of music in our students. We focus primarily on contemporary music, though we do plenty of classical pieces, and encourage our students to create, compose, experiment with music and jam with their peers. While at the moment we are focusing on private instruction, long term goals for our school include performance classes and contemporary music (rock, jazz, blues, etc.) ensembles.
Responsibilities / Duties: Teach students using our lesson curriculum (a combination of piano /guitar playing, music theory and musicianship/ear training); communicate student progress to parents (where applicable) and supervisor; prepare students for relevant performance opportunities or exams, such as festivals, RCM or Rockschool exams, or our bi-annual studio recitals; assisting with customer service as needed, such as maintaining enrolled students by providing a warm, friendly and fun experience; maintaining a neat and organized work space. Additional duties, such as assisting at recitals or other events, may also be assigned.
Hours: Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays 2-6pm; Saturdays 10-4pm. Teaching schedules take time to build. Most teachers start with one day and add a second day as demand grows. Therefore, flexibility in waiting for your schedule to build as well as the ability to add in additional days as your schedule grows is preferred.
The Location: Lessons are given at our studio, located at 1588 S. Mission Rd. Suite 225.
Requirements: Bachelors degree in music, education or related field (OR the equivalent in work experience) plus 1 year of relevant work experience; applicants should be comfortable working with children AND adults, with the ability to teach up to or beyond an intermediate level of playing; strong communication skills a must; Must be willing to adhere to state COVID guidelines in place for K-12 schools; Must be able to speak, read, write and comprehend English; fluency in Spanish is a plus. You must pass a background check to be hired.
Pay: Starting pay $24-$35/hr DOE for teaching, calculated from hours taught. (All training will be paid at our Training Pay Rate). We cannot offer benefits at this time.
