Little Dell Music Studio's Group Keyboard classes (4-6 children max) are a pathway designed for beginners ages 7-12.
Introduction to Keyboard is for beginners aged 7-9 and uses Piano Pronto Keyboard Kickoff method and theory books. This class moves at an age appropriate pace that gets kids playing real songs, right away. In this 35 week course, students will learn keyboard geography (names of the keys), note values subdivided up to 8th notes, note reading in treble and bass clef C position, 3/4 and 4/4 time signatures, an introduction to simplified left hand chords, an introduction to accidentals, and how to read and play hands together pieces, with left hand chords and right hand melodies.
Prelude Piano is for students who have completed Introduction to Keyboard, or beginners aged 10-12 and uses Piano Pronto Prelude method and theory books. This 35 week program focuses on playing hands together in C position, reading and playing accidentals, subdividing more complex rhythms, while continuing to reinforce the concepts introduced in Introduction to Keyboard.

Materials are purchased by parents separately, and include a method book, theory book and a playalong album to assist with at-home practice.
Ideal starting age is 7 to 10 at the beginning of the year (September).
It is expected that students will practice 5x/week. Failure to establish a regular at-home practice routine will greatly inhibit student progress.
It is to be expected that children will need parent assistance when establishing a practice routine. With very few exceptions, children will not independently practice without being coached on how and when to do so. Parent involvement in music training is crucial. Although parents do not attend class, parents will help facilitate practice and help to create a healthy and disciplined practice routine at home, plus encourage and praise their children to help keep music fun!
Classes are taught weekly for 55 minutes, from late August to the end of May (36 classes).
Optimum class size is 4-6 children.
This class is intended for total beginners. However, if you think your child may be a good fit, please contact us to discuss.
